GENE’S HISTORY

THE HISTORY OF GENE'S

Since 1947, the Bright Family has been bringing classic portraiture to Mineola, Texas and the surrounding communities. We are the oldest family-owned business in Downtown Mineola.

While the Covid 19 Pandemic was terrible, one of the good things that came about was the burst of creativity people began to experience.

We’ve seen many new photographers, film makers, and creatives come into the industry who need space to continue to develop their craft. With that, Gene’s Photography is proud to announce Gene’s Photo Studio, a natural light studio where creatives and their clients can film, shoot, and tap into their creativity.

Bright Studio was started in 1947, located upstairs above Flynt’s Jewelry on Broad Street. Gene Bright moved his business to its current location in 1963 and renamed it as Fine Arts Studio. In 1984, Gary, Gene Bright’s son, and his wife, Lisa began running the business.

In 2020, with a grant from the Hartford Insurance Company / Main Street America Program, our historic building went under renovation and brought Gene’s Photography up to date while maintaining it’s historically significant architecture, on the exterior and interior.
